Fishback Studio of the Dance is a school of dignity and distinction devoted to the art of dance. We have long been recognized as the outstanding dance school of the Southwest. We offer classes in ballet, tap, jazz, modern and Scottish dancing, as well as acrobatics to students from 3 years old through adulthood. We are proud to be the home of many national dance champions including the the 2006 Senior Mr. IDC, 2005 Mr. and Junior Miss Global Dance International, and the 1997/98 Dancer of the Year. We know the benefits of dancing are remarkable for health, poise and grace, so we encourage everyone in the Albuquerque area to come and participate!

At Fishback Studio, it is our mission to stress the importance of dancing as an ideal physical education as well as an artistic achievement.

Company Profile

Fishback Studio was founded in 1945 by Dr. and Mrs. Fishback. Today, the studio is operated by their daughter, Kathie Fishback Anthony and her husband, professional guitarist Michael Anthony. Kathie trained since the age of 3 at Fishback Studio and enjoyed twelve years of professional dancing in Hollywood where she was seen dancing on the Carol Burnett, Dean Martin, Shirley MacLaine, NBC Follies, Emmy and Academy Award Shows among many others. Kathie loves sharing her professional experience and love for all dance forms with the students.

Fishback Studio maintains a wide acquaintance with nationally recognized teachers and performers from New York to Hollywood, and professional contact with these has kept our quality of dancing abreast with the times. Our senior faculty maintain the excellence of their training through constant study and personal appearances. Assistants in the studio are personally trained by the studio faculty. Most have eight of more years of advanced training in the studio.

Fishback Studio is a member of Dance Masters of America, Cecchetti Council of America, and Dance Educators of America.
